High Point takes down Towson, 9-7

After making an impressive start to its NCAA men's lacrosse program history last weekend, narrowly losing 12-10 to an established program in the Delaware Blue Hens, the Panthers gave the lacrosse world a jolt while many programs were preparing to faceoff for their first games of the season.

The Panthers defeated an established program in the Towson Tigers, 9-7, at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C. on Friday.

Attackman Dan Lomas led the Panthers scoring with four goals while goalkeeper Austin Geisler made 11 saves to secure the program's first-ever victory.

Lomas has now scored a total of nine goals (4.5 goals/game) in the team's first two games of the season while Geisler's protection in the cage has solidified the team's game from the back end.

“This win feels great,” said head coach Jon

“The team played really hard today against a good Towson team. We tried to tighten up the defense and possess the ball more on offense, which were two things we had a little difficulty with against Delaware. We improved a lot in those two areas and it made a big difference.”

High Point moves to 1-1 with the win while Towson starts the season at 0-1.

The Panthers will host the Air Force Falcons on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Falcons open the 2013 season at North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m.
